The Weight Loss Wars

It is remarkable...  Obesity on the rise and yet, every other commercial is about weight loss.  And now, Celebrities are getting in the game.   So many commercials!

If you are looking for a program, how do you choose?

My suggestions:
  1. Do your research prior to joining a plan.. quality of products is very important
  2. Be sure it fits into your day to day life..  It is something you can implement daily.
  3. Make sure it is not a DIET but rather a LIFESTYLE plan...  Diets don't work!  Altering habits do!
  4. Must eat food....  but the right foods ~ Clean Food..
  5. Exercise, at least 15 min a day is encouraged
  6. Water should also be encouraged
  7. No stimulants or drugs.
  8. Be sure you know people who have lost weight and have kept it off for several years.  No YO YO Diets!
If you are one of the many Americans needing to drop more than 25lbs, keep in mind...  it took time to get to where you are, it takes a period of time to change a habit. They say it takes 28 days to change a habit or a taste bud...

You can reverse cravings...  You can burn inches..  The first step is taking a first step..  Put on a Pedometer and work at  increasing you steps...  to 8K to 10K steps daily.

Movement, Water, Clean food, and Support are the keys..

If you are looking for support, I have private support group on Facebook, Fit and Fabulous....  a great place to start.

Remember...  The first step to weight loss is taking the first step... Get moving!

Healthy Living to you...  and remember....
Prevention isn't Expensive, it is Priceless!

Fear NOT Weight Loss!

The Obesity Epidemic

More than one third of U.S. adults—more than 72 million people—and 16% of U.S. children are obese. Since 1980, obesity rates for adults have doubled and rates for children have tripled. Obesity rates among all groups in society—irrespective of age, sex, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, education level, or geographic region—have increased markedly.

Health Consequences of Obesity

Obesity has physical, psychological, and social consequences in adults and children. Children and adolescents are developing obesity-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, that were once seen only in adults. Obese children are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, and abnormal glucose tolerance. One study of 5- to 17-year-olds found that 70% of obese children had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease and 39% of obese children had at least two risk factors.

Obesity is Costly

• In 2000, obesity-related health care costs totaled an estimated $117 billion.

• Between 1987 and 2001, diseases associated with obesity account for 27% of the increases in medical costs.

• Medical expenditures for obese workers, depending on severity of obesity and sex, are between 29%–117% greater than expenditures for workers with normal weight.

• From 1979–1981 to 1997–1999, annual hospital costs related to obesity among children and adolescents increased, rising from $35 million to $127 million.

These Statistics are startling... But there is good news...We can reverse these statistics.
